Ph.D. Research Assistantship in
Plant Biotechnology

Dr. Huo’s lab at the Crop Transformation Center and the Horticultural Sciences Department at the University of Florida has a Ph.D. position available. This position includes a full research assistantship, which waives tuition and offers an annual stipend for an FTE 0.5 appointment. The successful candidate will focus on understanding the molecular mechanisms regulating cell fate for in vitro regenerative ability, and developing protocols for genetic transformation and gene editing in fruit trees and other crop species for functional characterization. This position is based on the main campus and at the Mid-Florida Research and Education Center (MREC) in Apopka and will commence in August 2025.

We highly encourage applicants with an M.S. degree in relevant research areas (Plant Biotechnology, Horticulture, Agronomy, Forestry, Plant Biology, Plant Pathology, Genetics) and a strong publication record to apply. Applicants with research experience in genome editing is highly preferred.

Minimum Requirements:

1) GPA 3.0 or above

2) TOEFL 80 or IELTS 6.0, GRE is NOT required for all applicants (Note: A TOEFL or IELTS English test may not be required for applicants from some countries. For more information, please visit: Grad International - University of Florida (ufl.edu)
